A while ago I had an idea for a technology and chemistry illustration. I sketched out the concept, went into a chemistry lab at a local university to get reference for the beakers and other chemistry equipment and then separately painted sketches of several birds. I finally arrived at this piece that shows technology and chemistry coming together to create life. Other elements of the painting include a clock depicting time passing before the final creation, a hand starting the action, similar to or representing Michelangelo’s Sistine painting of God giving life to Adam and the birds representing life, coming out of the computer screen. The original was purchased by a good friend of mine, Bob Putnam. I hope it’s enjoying a prominent place on a wall somewhere.
